Hey there PRT coders…
Q. Data output wise:
- Is there a feature where I can use an API ? (This would be amazing 🙂 )
This would be so very useful for collecting backtest or live data and using MS Power Automate, have the data correctly transferred to the excel sheet (cell locations)? - Or what is the email output format, is that using a CSV file ? – can still use Power Automate, but the set up is longer…
PDF email attachment is ok, but the data extraction can be fiddly, even for Power Automate.
Any feedback is much appreciated (I have pinged this over to support also).
My thanks, as always,
NT
This is a code free post, thanks to a specialist version of CGPT Designed for the PRT Platform 🙂
05/16/2025 at 9:03 AM #247181Hi!
There is no available API to work with.
The only option is to export data.
You can work with DDE data export (https://www.prorealtime.com/en/help-manual/dde-data-export).1 user thanked author for this post.

Hi Iván,
DDE functionality is great news, as MS Power Automate can utilise the data via this medium.
Excellent…
Thank you kindly for your reply,
My warmest regards,
NT

NT, forget it. 🙁 The output via DDE only outputs data from Lists (with the remark that you can create the Lists yourself). But all that would expose is price data for he instrument(s) in that List (all the Lists on screen). This functionality is nice all right (it connects to Excel), but is not at all what you want.
Other than this, there’s no I/O possible whatsoever.
Very maybe you can use Excel-exports from various quite static functions, like the output of an optimisation run (this is backtest related). But it is all not made for what you want …

05/16/2025 at 12:14 PM #247193We can export to CSV from, for example, Detailed Report etc (see ‘Export icon’ in top RH corner) I have set up Pivot Tables and Charts from the csv in excel.
All worked and gave me what I was after (best Algo today / this week etc) but the csv data is limited to 1,000 lines! It became yet another annoying time-consuming faff to (manually) update the csv files regularly enough (each day, maybe more often at times) to maintain the full ongoing record of transaction to compute full Portfolio performance.
User friendly / practicable ‘Analysis Tools’ would make the PRT Platform much more comprehensive / all-inclusive!?

Hey GraHal,
Oh I do what I can to cut the faffing….
Take a look at MS Power Automate (MSPA)…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1lTMzWygTAEven if the platform is limited, MSPA will automate said usage of data, at cell level in your excel sheet, and arrange the data output as you desire…
Happy days 🙂NT

Hey PeterSt,
Well, if i can get the data in CSV format, and using Power Automate to utilise the data into my awaiting excel sheets, I am in very good hands…
I’ll be testing that this weekend…Thank you, as always for your input.

I often feel jaded struggling with various parts of PRT. We need ‘new blood’ (e.g. You! 🙂 ) / new ideas to renew our enthusiasm.
I’m hoping for a ‘lift’ with PRT v13 … I hope v13 doesn’t disappoint!?

05/16/2025 at 2:31 PM #247202MSPA will automate said usage of data
Unless you can get MSPA (or some other tool?) to take over your PC and click buttons then your automation idea may fall at the first hurdle because PRT does not provide Export on a auto-schedule function.
I hope somebody tells me I am wrong?
I sincerely hope you get the Automation working NT.

Taa daa….
Here is the automation answer, using a very simple macro recorder.

This makes mincemeat of those tedious tasks 🙂

I’ll have a better study of it tonight, Cheers!
That’s the idea…
It is easy to use…
Spend time watching the videos, taking notes, then jump in, and give it a go…Let me know how you get on…
Oh, and do click the ‘thanks’ button on the previous post for me 😉NT
PS. If you use CGPT for coding assistance, I am amazed as this specialist version of the ProRealTime Code CGPT model…
With a good project set up of files and instructions, it is making huge headway coding my backtesting templates.
And it is also suggesting ways of designing indicators to serve as a monitor (5 indicator algo), very impressive…

I am on it my friend…
But, be aware, I do not auto trade…
I mostly use the daily and a 5 indicator algo traffic light system… (Currently in python code).I did this, as platforms can be limiting… and I prefer as much control as possible 🙂
But, when I find something useful, I’ll share, of course…NT
