Hi all,
Have you used the SET STOP TRAILING command in Real? Does it work properly?
I haven´t used it before and now I would like to use it in a new system.
I ask because I kind of recall reading about it didn´t work properly in real but I am not sure if it was exatly that.
Thanks
Yes, itworks. It starts from the level of profit you want, then it sets automatically a 1-pip step.
It CANNOT be used with another type of STOP, such as SET STOP LOSS. In case both instructions are used (on separate lines), the last one will always override any previous STOP instruction, as the lines are read sequentially starting from the beginning.
Thanks Roberto,
A 1pip step?… I thougth that the distance you set in the stop would be kept always with the new price
I mean if you put “SET STOP pTRAILING 100” that 100pips stop will adjust automatically with the change of price if it goes in your favour. Isn´t that how it works?
Isn´t that how it works?
Yes (in your example) TS starts moving at 100 pips profit and the movement from thereon is 1 pip each time price moves by 1 pip (as Roberto says).
On PRT-IG. With PRT-IB no Trailing Stop is possible (“yet” as they say).
Hi ,
I have the same issue with IG. It only allow trailing loss in standard account and not on limited risk account. I do not what they are. My account happens to be risk limited, I also do not know why, this is not mentioned at all when I open account. I am here to seek help on ways to implement trailing stop without using the “set stop loss x trailing y”. I try “set stop loss value” in the program where it calculates the “value”, I take care of not set the value less than allowed. I also use “set stop loss 100” as the last instruction.
Any ideas?
Regards and Thanks.
