Hello Fellow Traders
Do you ever close / stop your Auto Systems (Algos)? If Yes, under what circumstances?
I do, not often but if I can see the ‘instrument turning’ and the Algo (especially if its several Algos) showing a healthy profit then I stop them. I hate seeing a good profit reduce significatly or worse still turn to a loss!
Also if my Algos have been through a ‘bad patch’ and stopping a few profitable Algos will get me back on track and restore the balance then I will do it. I find it is good for my mind … keeps my psychological trading profile positive.
Does it mean I don’t trust my Algos?
Does it mean I prefer manual trading?
Shoud I leave the Algos running else what is the point of Algos?
Any / all comments appreciated.
Cheers

I let my systems run, unless either of these happen:
- Market conditions change or can change dramatically because of huge fundamental news.
- I discover a bug in my system.
- The system goes into a critical drawdown, the size of which I have specified beforehand.
If I feel the need to stop a system because of some reason, it can be because I am emotionally invested into it and not thinking rationally. Or it can because of some market/performance condition (which I can actually program into my system in the first place). For these reasons I avoid interrupting systems. When I used too much leverage I would do that and it resulted in losses. With my current risk I don’t feel the need to interfere.
