I have a question to ask.
I also use another charting platform. However, lately I have noticed that the 200ema (exactly the same parameters on both platforms) on some stocks are in different places.
Could you let me know why this could be?
What platform? Same broker? What is your broker? Not comparing the same instrument I presume.
When you compare stock prices please ensure you have deactivated the “Adjust historical data after dividends” option.
This option adjusts the historical data preceding a dividend issue, thus removing gapping and optimizing the use of technical indicators.
To deactivate this adjust please go on “Options” -> “Platform options” and remove within the section “Adjust historical data” the option “After dividends, for stocks”.
Here an example (left chart with option activated and right without it)

Hi Ulrike
What do you do if you don’t have the option you refer to above … see attached?
Thank You
GraHal
Hello,
This option is available with software versions provided on http://www.prorealtime.com or ProRealTime Trading. In these versions we control the data feeds which are coming directly from the official stock exchanges and are therefore able to provide additional features in the platform such as the smoothing of gaps in order to improve technical analysis with indicators.
Within the version provided by IG the historical data is displayed without any adjusting.
