I did it again for a 3rd time … same result – no shift … see attached this time with the points 1, 2 and 3 showing.

If you see closely, point 1 and point 2 are shifted in 2nd and 3 rd snapshot in comparison to the first snapshot (although it is not making a huge difference in overall appearance of the channel).

One more example of a channel that will shift a lot – try in 1D chart channel using high of 14 may and 18 may and low of 13 May. Take a snapshot.

Then log out and log back in and from 1D chart only select the channel – configure – and change setting to display in object timeframe only (but while doing so, observe the channel in 1D chart, this is the one shifting a lot for me.

    Thanks for your time!

Can you not live with / work around some shifting on certain dates / Highs / Lows?

I recall in v10.3 that trend lines were completely unusable on any TF other than that TF on which the trend lines were drawn … so PRT have done a marvellous job re apply to inferior timeframes etc.

Actually, I correct these channels every day (have been very patient with this). And then they work flawlessly to a single pip (when using them on 4h or 1h chart) many times! I have been correcting them even though this is so cumbersome to do because of this very reason!

So the idea of leaving the channel in the shifted position makes me very nervous.

So what are yuor conclusions then after the tests?

How come yours shifts and my don’t or are you considering the very minor shift evident in mine as same as your shift?

I can’t help thinking you are doing soemthing fundamentally different than me?

If you use in 4 Hour … why not set up the channel in 4 Hour and likewise in 1 Hour?? Why bother with the apply to inferior timeframes anyway??

    Just a few thoughts.

Some of the channels are shifting a lot. Also, if you draw a channel in 4H (or 1H) vs draw them  in 1D and make them appear in inferior time-frames, they will be drawn differently, and the ones drawn in D chart and then made to show in inferior time-frames work accurately.

Can you do this really one last thing for me please – try in DAX 1D chart channel using low of 13May, low of 19 May and high of 14 May. Then logout and log back in. Then from D chart only, select that channel, go to configure -> and change option from “inferior time frame” to “object time frame only”. While you do this, watch the upper line of the channel, it shifts a lot in my case. Please let me know if you experience the same thing.

There you go … as you instructed above … no shift observed, see screen shots attached (and yes, I did logout and log back in 🙂 )

You must be doing something different to what I am doing else you have different settings somewhere??

Finally got this resolved through a simple tweak. On any chart – there is a field on top left where you can set it as a template chart. What I have observed is, template chart gets loaded first. Earlier, my inferior time-frame chart was set as a template chart. I think this is what was messing up things and why issue was happening only between logout and login. Once I set daily chart to default template chart, the issue disappeared.

    Appreciate your help with this.

I knew it was something you were doing different to what I was doing!

When I was doing the tests for you I was using my Template Chart to set the Channel etc.

Well we can chalk this up as success due to trial and error and dogged perseverance! 🙂
