Hi I’m really sorry for this basic question, however I cannot seem to find the answer anywhere.
I have an account with IG and use PRT, I am looking to change my trade size to £1 per point.
Would somebody please explain how I can do this please?
Thanks in advance!
Are you talking about doing it in Automated trading or manual trading.
Thanks for the reply StantonR!
Either way would be great, I was originally trading on the FTSE min £2 trades, however as I am a beginner trader a friend told me it is possible to only use £1 per point rather than the £2 min I was using.
I have come come out of the £2min FTSE and am now on the the normal FTSE cash index however I cannot find anyway of changing my trade amount. I went to place a trade yesterday and it informed me I needed to place another £300 into my account, I didn’t understand this.
Ideally whilst I am learning I just want to trade £1 per point, so if I set a stop loss of 10 pts the max I can lose is £10 and like wise if I have a take profit of 20 pts I would stand to win £20.
Thanks again!
The minimum trade amount for FTSE cash is the 2 Pound mini.
Thats the minimum size of the trade so you can go lower than that.
Ahh ok so my friend has mis-informed me telling me you can trade the FTSE for £1 per point? @StantonR

I don’t know about the spread bet account, but with PRT-CFD you have FTSE for 1€ per contract, with a minimum size of 1 contract possible.
Hi Nicolas, that is exactly what I am looking for, only in £ instead of € as I am UK based.
However in my list of charts on PRT-CFD I can only see a few of FTSE cash and one FTSE cash £2 mini, I cannot see the £1 anywhere. Is their some settings I can change to lower the amount at all?
Thanks in advance!
