Anyone been using or considering BuildAlpha? Seems like a nice tool for checking strategies for robustness, it doesn’t make ProRealTime code, but it can’t be to difficult to translate. It’s no demo version, but looking at the videos it looks like something we really would like in PRT for WF, OOS, randomness etc!!??!

WF and OOS are already in prorealtime. 3d variables optimization results and Monte Carlo analysis will also come.
About this kind of tools, be aware that this is definitely not an easy way to create powerful strategies. I used to generate millions of random strategies myself while doing machine learning and I did not find more significant things than classical OBR or dip buy for bullish stocks. But this is just my opinion, and it was a lot of fun as well as genuine intellectual enrichment 🙂

I think you are absolutely right and this software is not kind of free either. I think I’ll focus on making a better structure for testing, checklists, tracking etc., and I think that will give me more confidence before setting algos live! Do you know any kind of templates (Excel or other software) that will give an excellent (!) overview of the testing (WF, OOS, Martingale and other). I have made an Access application that keeps track of all my live trades, and I’m trying to implement backtesting functionality in the same system. I have been thinking hours and hours about how the best way to do it would be. By know I can just record regular backtests and WF-tests and store the results that PRT are showing, and print all of them that links to a specific algo.

    Can’t wait for 10.4, said the policeman (ten-four) 🙂

Hey, Build Alpha does create Pro Real Time code now! It also is much more than a ‘random strategy’ generator as Nicolas states. It can create random strategy but also allows the user to select signals they want to test (with no programming). Then can hit a button to generate PRT code. It also contains tons of indicators that PRT does not support yet and then sample code for them you can import into PRT.

@dburgh might you be able to send a link to the Build Alpha website where it mentions PRT?

I had a 15 min read around the site and with no search on the site I could not find any mention of PRT?

Do you have any ball park figure for License fees? They don’t show any fees on the website, one has to apply for further information … which always makes me somewhat wary??

    Thanks

Yeah, on the buildalpha.com/features page there is a mention of the code it generates. I’ve attached a screenshot of the PRT section. Please email me for pricing as I like to get a feel for the kind of trader you are and the support it will entail. I make most of my money trading and Build Alpha is done on the side (there is no lack of customer service, however. You can ask any user). However, in order for me to keep the high customer service standard and continue development I like to get to know the potential user first as opposed to just open it up to anyone. It is not a company – just me!
