Using Simplified Creation and any moving average other than Simple MA does not provide the correct code!

The code that is provided is always for a simple moving average!

Newbies may not realise above and get disilusioned as to why their code isn’t working!?

Image 1 – code produced when a Hull MA is selected and using Simplified Creation (lower curve).

Image 2 – correct code for Hull MA (upper curve).

It is obvious why the trades are different (MA(200) vs MA(200,8)) but if I was a newbie I would expect a selected Hull MA (4th Image) to be coded as a Hull MA if I used the Simplified Creation Tool??

Did you test with other MA than Hull? Another one numbered between 1 and 6?

    Yes I checked with EMA(200,2).

I will treble check another later (200,4) and let you know.

EMA is number 1, and I don’t think Hull is number 8, even if it’s the eighth choice in the dropdown list.  Try the seventh one for Hull average.

Yes I remembered EMA = 1 as soon as I sent the comment.

Ignore the attachments … it seems to have been fixed now?? 🙂

Simplified Creation does not create the correct code for …

    No 7 Zero Lag Exponential

    and

    No 8 – Hull

The code that is produced for the two MA Types above is for Simple Average … see attached.

Because MA numbered 7 and 8 are new and are only implemented from version 11, that’s why you get simple MA when trying to use that number in previous version of PRT.

That is confusing to the user because selecting MA 7 and 8 produce different curves on the charts (different than simple MA) and so logically one would expect MA 7 and 8 to code up different using Simplified Creation.

Anyway now we know the reason for the anomaly!

Well … anybody reading these last 2 comments will know!

    Thank You
    Nicolas.
