A little poll,
how many systems are you running live in your portfolio?
But a better question how many of them are profitable??
How do you consider a strategy to be profitable??
@sandro2017
I understand the question but it does not arise. When a system enters the portfolio, it has been backtested, observed in demo, and with a good probability of being profitable over time. Otherwise, i will not go live with it.
How do you consider a strategy to be profitable??
The simple answer is that at the current time it has made more money than it has lost – but there is much more to profit than this
Making a profitable strategy is very very easy but we must also consider the cost and risk to obtain that profit. A simple strategy could make thousands of pips but if the draw down is massive and the risk of running out of money is massive then the ‘cost and risk’ far outweighs the ‘profitability’.
I have many strategies on demo that have made thousands of £ in profit but I know that they come with very high risk that one day they might suck the bank dry so they stay on demo despite them being profitable strategies.
Only strategies with low cost, low risk and high profit should be in our portfolios but measuring and quantifying cost, risk and profit and deciding our own personal levels of acceptance of them before going live is the big challenge!
you said everything, with wisdom and experience, Vonasi 🙂
