hello, is it possible to backtest in 5 min time fram but use indicators in days? i want to backtest in 5 min time fram but my RSI value has to be 14 days.

Then multiply the RSI parameter value. If what your trading is open for 24 hours per day, it looks like this: (60/5)*24*14 = 4032 => RSI[4032]

Hi Abz

Forgive the daft question from me … are you asking cos RSI is usually for 14 periods as RSI[14](close)?

If No, then you could set the period for the number of 5 mins in 14 days (20,160) so RSI[20160](close) and run on the 5Min TF ... but such a wide variation is unusual surely?

thanks for respond

yes im looking for 14 days of RSI on oil or gold and other indicators as well and i thougt that pro realtime had a limitation of how many bars it coud look back and then 4032 woud be to much?

Ha apart from my calc being out by a factor 5! 🙂 Yes you would need to load 4050 preload bars
