I have a weird result showing in my ProOrder AutoTrading window. The strategy shows that it has a position open that is 168.10 up and the Detailed Report shows that positions have been closed with a profit of 266.40. So the Total Gain should be 434.50 but it is shown as 168.10? This is on my Demo platform.

The above will not show in System total until the trade is closed, but you know that so I have probably misunderstood what you wrote or you didn’t mean what you said? 🙂

so I have probably misunderstood what you wrote

    I think you have.

The Total Gain in the ProOrder window should be the current running total of any open positions added or subtracted from the total of all closed positions. Total closed positions is 266.40 and the open position is showing a 168.10 gain yet the total gain is also showing 168.10 – which is wrong.

I just noticed that this strategy with weird results in the ProOrder AutoTading window was one that got stopped recently by some  problem with IG data that PRT have now told me they have made a work around for. It appears that the history before the stoppage has been forgotten by the ProOrder AutoTading window.

The Demo platform is not as reliable as the live account. This is a common occurrence for me.

So the strategy with the weird results in the ProOrder Autotrading window closed out another trade but the results shown were not correct so I stopped the strategy and restarted it and the results in the ProOrder Autotrading window zeroed! The results in the Detailed Report window have however corrected themselves and add up correctly to the right gain for all the trades. It seems that I will have to stop and start the strategy after every trade to get accurate results in at least one window.

…and now I notice yet another strategy in my Demo ProOrder AutoTrading window showing incorrect results.

The equity graph shows the right equity (I have to guess). How am I supposed to easily know how the strategy is performing!?

I’ve added up all the ABS Performance of the trades in the Detailed Report and it confims that the Total Gain in the ProOrder AutoTrading window is absolute b*****ks.

We keeping hoping that support will improve but if you look at my two recent posts you will see that there’s no reply from the ProRealTime staff after I questioned them further.

In my opinion IG don’t really care that much about supporting PRT algorithmic trading because only a very small customer base with small amounts of capital, and that is reflected in how many active people there are on these forums. If IG customers do use PRT its for the charting features. From my experience PRT is the best charting platform and overall I really like it but its downside is that it’s not as robust on the algorithmic trading aspects, especially because it can’t access the spread and no real hedging.

Having said that some of the issues we face could be related to IG infrrascture – so it’s hard to be certain where the faults are but as we don’t get clear and honest responses we can only make assumptions.

I’m now investing more time evaluating which platform I’m migrating to because I need to compare the comparative reliability first hand against other platforms.

Live account – look at my Order List window. Look at the Close Positions. No gains are showing?

I guess it is a combination of having to prioritise manpower to lots of different areas – major upgrades of the platform, fixing bugs in the main platform, and fixing bugs in the demo platform. At the moment it seems that there is either not enough manpower or it is not dedicated to bug fixing very much.

I also think that IG may be a major disruption between us reporting issues and PRT fixing them as I guess the majority have PRT access after opening an account with IG. I have noticed a massive improvement in feedback from PRT since becoming a PRT sponsored IG account holder (opening an IG account via PRT). It is just a pity that IG stupidly opened a limited risk account so it is unusable for me.

… and this morning I notice yet another strategy with completely rubbish results showing for the Total Gain

    Screenshot_4

I have sent a report to PRT regarding the issue (at the fifth attempt as the platform crashed on the first attempt and failed to send a message on the next three!) Problems when reporting problems is not helpful.

I now also notice that the balance of my demo account is miles out of sync with what platform is suggesting it should be. It is something around £3000 too little in the IG account than it is showing as losses on the platform. Now I know some is trading costs but that is a huge difference so something is seriously being mis-calculated or miscommunicated.

How am I supposed to use the demo platform for useful analysis of strategies if none of the information is anywhere near correct? Four strategies are showing profits they do not have and the combined overall losses since testing strategies being shown is smaller than has been subtracted from my IG demo account.

    Hi Vonasi,

The ProOrder window takes into account all positions (closed ones and currently open positions). The detailed report window only takes into account closed trades.

That being said, I have nonetheless asked our Level II support team to have a look at your report to see if they find any issues (reference #2018040559008851).

    Regards,

    Pierre

Thank you Pierre. I am aware of what you have said regarding what each window displays but my results do not add up correctly to match what you describe.
