PRT with IB

I’m about to move my IB account to a sponsored PRT account because I really like the charts and the commissions for trading futures is cheaper.

How does two factor auth work with PRT? On IB I need to authorise a login using IBKR mobile on my phone. Is it the same when logging into PRT?

Does PRT connect to IB via the TWS api, or does PRT have a direct connect to IB? If the latter, do limit orders and stops placed with PRT show up in TWS and vice versa?

Can TWS be configured to use PRT datafeed if running on the same PC (in the same way TWS can use esignal data for example)? Or must I subscribe to Exchange data with both IB and PRT if I want to use both PRT and TWS?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Interesting questions and unfortunately, I don’t I have all the answers but…

Are you sure a PRT account linked to IB offer cheaper commissions than a raw IB account?

IB has the best commissions I believe on the market but TWS is not great and their charting tools are crap.

PRT/IG account is a good alternative (cost and platform) depending on the instruments you are trading.

Concerning opening an IB account with PRT see, https://trading.prorealtime.com/en/brokerage and https://trading.prorealtime.com/en/InteractiveBrokers .

    Good luck.

    Hello,

thank you for your interest in ProRealTime Trading (order execution via Interactive Brokers).

Please click on the following link in order to see the commissions: ProRealTime Brokerage fees

When opening a ProRealTime Trading account you have 2 different sets of access codes: an account number which allows you to access your ProRealTime platform and the so-called IB login which allows you to access the Interactive Account management for activity statements etc and launch TWS (if wished). For the access to the IB account management as well as TWS the IBKR app is indeed required as second security device .

However, it is not necessary to launch the TWS as the ProRealTime platform is directly linked to IB. Orders as well as positions are displayed simultaneously in both trading environments (except: instruments which can only be traded via IB can only be viewed within the TWS as options on US stocks for example).

The ProRealTime datafeed can not be activated within the TWS. However, if you have real time via ProRealTime you won’t  necessarily need real-time in TWS.

Don’t hesitate to contact us directly for any further detailed information by writing to contact@prorealtime.com

    Best regards,

    Ulrike

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.

Can you confirm the PRT trading part is protected by its own two factor auth system?
