Phantom trade!

    Just as I thought things could not get any worse. Now I have a position open on one of my demo accounts that was not opened by any auto strategy (chance would be a fine thing as most of them are end of day and that has not worked for 63 days!) – and I have not opened any manual positions. So here we have a phantom trade…..

    It was actually a great time to open a trade but who did it?

    What gave you the impression things couldn’t get any worse…? Aliens coming to the rescue to fix issues? (humorous post @Nicolas yes and we all need to laugh but somewhat testing the patience of clients I would say – 3 months+ and that was the first response/acknowledgement – not your fault I know but yeh anyway…)

    I had the same thing going on yesterday on AUDUSD – kept closing the trade and got the pop up acknowledgment the trade had closed then PRT disconnected/trying to connect (nothing wrong with internet was listening to internet radio) then eventually reconnected and there was the phantom trade again – I take it you will have seen my other post about Demo PRT totally down at the moment too

    I think it was the week before last when there were known issues I was told when I contacted IG chat support that yes there were known issues and I might be seeing manual trades being placed that I was not placing – I was not at that time experiencing that as far as I was aware but yeh looks like that gremlin is back again eh

    How are you able to insert pictures into posts @Vonasi? Is much better/easier to read the post – thanks

    Well at least I now know that it isn’t just me going mad and imagining trades!

    I tend to only use the insert option when I am trying to explain something and the images need to be relevant to the text. If used too often (which I know I am guilty of!) then threads can become very long.

    Nope seems to be a common phenomenon recently unfortunately hope they are able to nail it once and for all and and soon! (I take it you too are unable to access Demo PRT at the moment as per other thread?)

    Thanks for the heads up on how to insert pictures and yes agree posts can get long but as you say it illustrates the meaning much easier than having to go and open an attachment that opens full screen and have to close it to get back to the thread however I don’t seem to have the ability to do that… ummm see attachment…

    Maybe the insert option is just a moderators option but I didn’t think it was as I’m sure I recall a post where Nicolas asked someone not to insert their images so much!

    Yes I read your other thread and I am able to get into the demo platform this morning. I have noticed over the last few days that I sometimes get a message saying that MyIG is unavailable but if I try again immediately it then opens MyIG.

    Whenever something weird happens I hold out some small hope that it is someone at IG or PRT trying to fix something and breaking something else in the process!

    Yes surprise surprise it is back up n running just about exactly the same time as you’ll have tried to login none the wiser… where are all the Australian/Asian PRT users?

    OK enough other stuff to ‘worry’ about than inserting images I guess the ability was taken away from us mere mortals 😉

    Hi Nicolas – yes am in Asia hence my finding out about all these mysterious going on’s that magically get put right first thing European time and nobody ‘over there’ seem to be any the wiser other than noting their strategies look screwed up in the morning and perhaps give out a little sigh and move on… look forward to hearing what ITF/IG have to say/no doubt you will come across my other posts too… not happy 🙁

    The Wall Street positions was created your proOrder system: It was a working order to buy 1 @24920.6 which was set on the 20th of July 2018 00:00:02 GMT under this deal reference: DIAAAAB4WTSCHAL.

    The working order was triggered on the 11th October 2018 at 19:45:58 which was filled at this level 24920.6.

    The position was closed by you on Prorealtime at 22:20:17 on the 11th October 2018 which was closed at 25212.3

    As PRT limit and stop orders last only one bar I am not sure how an order to buy at a price can be set on 20th July and then filled on 11th October!

    I always right click on attached images and open in new tab (I use Chrome browser) and then I have the image and the Thread  text  open side by side.

    @Vonasi – good grief…. I think a perfect example of why not to send in technical reports if you ask me despite everyone going on and on about it time after time – obviously the message has not had time to get round at IG there has been a serious issue since end of day yesterday/overnight and are we all to flood them with reports about the same glaringly obvious issue and take up time and resources that should be getting spent on getting these long standing issues fixed? And yes as you say quite how this could have even been possible also demonstrates (understandably) IG’s lack of in depth knowledge on PRT and further enforces why we should be talking to the horses mouth!

    I have found the completed buy order in my orders list along with the name of the strategy that opened it and it seems what IG have written in their reply is not correct. The strategy that opened the trade places a daily limit order on the DJI to buy at a lower price. The strategy should set a stop loss and/or close the trade when one of two conditions are met but it appears that the trade was orphaned.

    In some ways this phantom trade is good news as this proves that pending order strategies on the daily time frame actually work even if end of day strategies don’t.

    Perhaps that was what this overnight weekday server upgrade was all about then? For sure I wouldn’t want to be in support at IG this must be a major headache if it works in live but not demo… what is causing such an issue it is so difficult to fathom out/causing knock on affects etc.?

    Some further investigation reveals that the strategy in question should have opened many positions since the IG server crash but has not done so. It appears that an order was left on the market from July 20th and then that order filled yesterday. So the IG reply is correct.

    So the first question is how on earth did this order get left on the market?

    The second question is why are limit orders not being put on the market on the daily time frame?

    Just seen that phantom trade was still there on AUDUSD – have closed it and hasn’t yet come back – checked other pairs I often use and EURUSD had one too – both from 04/10/18 – I’m not aware of any of my strategies that would have placed those trades but just hope they are properly ‘gone’ and don’t come back/this issue is sorted now
