It would be good if the number of bars specified per chart were saved so that when the platform restarts the user doesn’t have to reset the bar count every time.
Hi! You should save your workspace and that’s it.
Yeah I do, but it does not save the number of bars which means when I restart the platform I have to reset them manually.
Hi Morp…, is the “number of bars” your referring to, the current number of historical bars that have accumulated in the chart, just before you shut down.
Yes for example for my 15 minute charts I set the maximum to 13500, for 1 minute to 200,000, 5 minute 40000. These values are lost when the platform is restarted
When you say “set”, do you mean that you have made custom unit size of 13500 units for the 15 minute chart.. etc
yes. I have defined sizes that equate to the maximum at 1 minute which is 200k, so for 15 min that is about 13500
It might well be that PRT have a default of a max of 10K bars or less when the Platform first starts to ease the load on their servers and so that users don’t moan that their Platfrom is taking ages to start etc?
I say 10k bars because I can’t recall my Platfrom ever showing more than 10k bars on start up.
At extremes (to illustrate my point) imagine if we all had bars set to 1,000,000 on starting the platform.
Just a few thoughts to consider anyway.
I wrote a long reply and it vanished when PRC logged me out, damm.
Maybe this may be helpful, observed from complete version.
When a new chart is formed, it has a default number of displayed bars, based on unit setting.
This default display is represented by a greyed out icon, bottom right corner, magnifying glass with xy arrows.
Zooming and scrolling highlights the icon. Pressing it returns the chart to the default display.
When saving, if the display has been altered from the default display, a temporary setting is saved based on current actual setting, and this appears to be used when re-opening.
Using icon, reverts back to the original from this temporary.
A couple of things to note, unit setting refers to bars with a candle, and doesn’t count gaps.
However the ruler tool counts the gaps as bars.
This means that, if there a lot of gaps, the time range of the chart will expand to display your default bar candles.
And the ruler will give you the bar periods, a totally different number to the actual candles displayed.
Hi – Only settings of 10K bars or less are saved and restored at the next start of the platform.
Larger settings also are restored at the “Reload” command (from the Main Menu – Open Template – Reload).
1M bars are also restored (1M is a special option for Premium and loads historical data only).
Reload did the trick, thanks!
