In the case of a CFD trade with, for example, a Germany 40 index, the margin for a retail investor will be the highest of (i) 5% of the underlying asset when the trade was placed and (ii) 5% of the underlying asset based on the current price.

(Please note that for clients trading through MetaTrader 4 (with an MT4 account), the way the initial margin is calculated will not change. The initial margin of trades on the MetaTrader 4 platform is and remains based on the underlying asset when you place the trade and will not fluctuate over time.)

You will probably have to adjust the code of your money management when you have incorporated the margin…
