Apologies if this question has been asked before, I have been unable to find the answer.

I have written a strategy which opens multiple positions in the direction of the trend. Each position has a trailing stop associated with it. How do I calculate the current “open risk” , or exposure, on the whole position, i.e the difference between the current price (or last close price) and the level of each trailing stop? I would like to use this total exposure value as part of  determining whether to open further positions.

CLOSE is the current price. POSITIONPRICE is the average position price so if you know what your stop loss level is then you can calculate what your exposure is.

Bear in mind that if you are closing positions using pending orders then they will all close at the same time. If you are using a SET instruction then they will all have individual stop prices but these will all be at equal distances – that is whatever the last SET instruction set them at.
