Hey guys just dipping my toe in the waters here, I have recently been following a chap on YouTube called NNFX or No Nonsense Forex, has anyone else here been following his ideas and are currently in the process of developing an algo based on his ideas?

His ideas and strategies do seem very good and a lot of people that follow his channel are finding profitable strategies that can be used with prop firms. The only problem is most of the people that follow him are using MT4 and above and it sometimes feels lonely doing it on PRT when no one else is. The other problem I have is that his algo depends on closing half trades which at the moment is something you can’t do on auto trading on PRT.

Has anyone had any success with his ideas on the PRT platform and are willing to help out? I don’t want you to share your algos or indicators (unless you really want to 🙂 ) just any helpful tips that you have accrued along the way. 🙂 or if anyone else has any thoughts on the matter, it would be good to have a chat with someone other than on the very mean Facebook lol.

finding profitable strategies that can be used with prop firms.

Are you saying that staff from prop firms state on the VP website that they use the VP strategies?

Are you able to provide a ‘VP’ strategy in plain english or MT4 code and you some kind soul on here may  provide PRT code?

Anyway thanks for bringing to the attention of the Community.

Here’s one link that jumped out at me that I’ll be watching today! 🙂

Sorry I don’t see any strategy really explained on that channel. If you want to get something coded, please describe the strategy and with screenshots if possible, in your next post, thanks!

    GraHal:

I don’t think that there has been any ‘endorsements’ from any particular prop firm that says that his system works as in it’s the holy grail but I am part of a Facebook group that has members that ‘clam’ (with some evidence) that they now trade for prop firms.

I will say that a lot of his material is very very informative and has helped my trading out massively. However it can be a little confusing if not watched in the correct order. But I highly recommend giving it a watch.

His first YT video is the “Big Banks” video, and although it may sound like he is a conspiracy theorist his views do give food for thought.

    Nicholas and GraHal:

The NNFX system is not a specific set of criteria to enter/exit a trade I.e. it is not a codeable system, and he does not give out his indicators specifically. What he does is teach people a way to find their own system that works. He explains in great detail how, in his view, the markets work and what to do or not to do. He also gives you a set of rules to follow that can then enable you to be profitable. Think of it more of a school rather than a specific system.

You won’t find a “system” as we think of it on any of his materials, what you will find is a guide of how to make your OWN system following his rules. In a brief summary he uses 5 indicators coupled with money management and rather specific entry and exit criteria, he never tells you what indicators to use but he helps (through his material) people to easily find their own indicators to use and some methods of backtesting etc.

The reason I started this topic is for people to join the conversation based on what they know of his ideas and what they think may work, and to swap and exchange ideas of indicators, money management and so on to create not just profitable systems but good long term profitable systems.

I personally have been developing a system following his ideas and will say that out of all of the people that I have followed and “copied” this idea is the only one that dosent seem too good to be true and I have already had some good success with it.

By the way as a side note I am not in anyway affiliated with VP nor do I receive anything from him, this is purely a discussion based on his material, just in case people think I’m advertising for him.

I was following VP and watched almost all his videos.
He’s a funny guy and give valuable tips ( specially the different steps for backtesting).
Totally agree with him concerning the primary role of money management, and ATR is indeed a good way of measuring risk.
Of his 100 indicators list, he mentionned a few.
I tested them and didn’t see any superiority compared to the common ones. So no magic indicator(s).

Yea I’ll have to agree with you there he did make me laugh several times. It does get frustrating sometimes that he dangles the carrot somewhat and some of the indicators that he has mentioned I don’t find to be superior either, I do think his ideas work especially the money management side of things, but as with all of what he says, they need to be tweaked.

I’m trying to develop his ideas into an automated strategy but with not much luck at the moment. I have some indicators that combined give a decent winrate, but translating that winrate into actual profits is getting increasingly difficult. Are you still trying to develop an algorithm based on his ideas or have you moved on to other things now?

I am not a pure trend believer as VP, so I can’t stick to his rules (for example, trading in break-out,never be on the other side of your market baseline).

    #143893

No neither am I. I don’t even use a baseline, I have 3 confirmation indicators, and I tend not to use a “volume indicator” also I base a lot of my work on the H1 timeframe. But like we agreed his money management so on is good. I think he is too reserved tho and there is definitely more to be had from his ideas.

Concerning the money management,if you haven’t done yet, take a look to Robert Carver book,”Leveraged Trading”.
Adopting a private (and not institutionnal) trader point of view, he goes deeply in statistical analysis of risk (calculated by the standard deviation concept).
I’m not familiar with maths-statistics anymore, but he convinced me about the use of a trailing stop (for the trending trades).

Ah cool thankyou I’ll take a look.

VP is a nice guy with interesting ideas and a systematic approach.

I’m not sure about looking for a universal system that works on every 28 fx pairs. I haven’t find it yet.

    Hello !

Just an update concerning the topic…for anyone interested.

Videos continued to be published on the YouTube channel of NNFX (314 so far). Recent ones deal with indicators, and relate to other trading domains than only FX. Initial approach on Discord of sharing various ideas and testing results, has now been abandoned. The same person we find on Discord (Judgefpv) dealing with that aspect launched a so called ‘New NNFX Trading Q&A Podcast’ together with Dillon Grech.

I could find a few recent implementations of trading systems/methods that people claim (on YouTube) to be based on ‘NNFX rules’, but without clear demonstration of the announced results (TradeIQ, TradingFox, f.i.).

Some scripts can also be found on TradingView.
