Different instrument as indicator

    Hi I think I saw somewhere that it is now possible to use values of calculations based on another instrument for example say the Vix as an indicator on another Instrument like the SP500  or Dax/FTSE as a ratio or differential Is this true and where can I find how?

    Hi. I think you are talking about “calculated instruments”.
    You can open with ctrl+R

    It may not be available in the IG version.

    Ok I found it, it is a menu item under Display>>Calculated Instruments. V12 of PRT

    However it does not appear that can be added into a chart of a different instrument as an indicator. Can someone confirm. Can it be called into an algo?

    Calculated Instruments is a separate module used to compare instruments with each other…

    You can display this comparison in a chart, but it cannot be used as an indicator, backtested, or ‘called’ within an algorithm…

    It’s a real pity you cannot integrate it into systems or indicator.

    Anyone knows if it will be integrated in the future versions?!
