Demo strategy failed to close trade

  I noticed a few missed trades today – ie backtesting showed trades being opened but live demo did not. The robots in question have been working fine up until now.

  They both look at the Dow 1 minute chart…

  My conclusion is that my trades that are failing to close are all end of day or end of week strategies. So it seems that PRT/IG have fixed the problem of end of day/week strategies not opening trades but they have then either broken the closing of trades or not noticed that that was not working either. Currently I am having to compare and end of day strategies with open positions across three demo platforms every day to see if they should have closed or not. Basically between the two problems this now means that I have had absolutely no meaningful live forward testing data since 9th August. That is only a whole quarter of a year of wasted time!

  My intraday strategies are all working normally.

  verygrubby – have you sent a report as it sounds like your problem is different to mine? Maybe you should start a separate thread and link it to your report.

  It seems that some of my strategies on demo test closed positions last night. Hopefully this means that IG/PRT have fixed the issue. I will continue to monitor them to see if it is now also working at end of day as well as end of week.

  maybe I spoke to soon… the dow trades that opened this morning are totally different to the backtesting trades for that robot…. usually they match almost perfectly…

  still trying to work out what’s happened….

  One of my end of day strategies closed out its positions on demo last night so it seems that this issue is now definitely fixed. I will mark this topic as resolved.

  BEWARE ALL: Looks like my Dow robots are not opening trades in live demo today (they were fine yesterday)… backtesting is still opening trades as expected.
