I wonder if it is possible to connect to IB’s API when I open an account at Interactive Brokers sponsored by PRT?
It would be very nice to be able to deploy ones orders via the API but still have PRT to monitor the trades. Maybe somebody from PRT can answer this question?
With a ProRealTime Trading account, you can also use the TWS and its APIs.
Positions you open with the ProRealTime platform are immediately visible in the TWS platform.
However, the TWS platform lets you trade on instruments which are not yet available in the ProRealTime platform (ex: USA Options, Canadian stocks, Asian markets). If you open positions or place orders on one of these instruments via TWS, these positions and orders will not be visible in the ProRealTime platform.

Pierre
Thank you for your answer. But can you confirm the following maybe also. To have PRT for free one has to place several orders per month THROUGH PRT. If I trade on the account but place the order through the TWS I will have to pay for PRT, correct?
Orders placed on the TWS platform do indeed not generate any ProRealTime platform rebates.
Please also note that the real-time access of the ProRealTime platform and the TWS platform are independent, but that on both platforms, most delayed data is available at no additional cost.

Ulrike
Hi Despair,
Did you end up going with PRT IB, and if so are you satisfied?
I have PRT IG now but considering moving to PRT IB too to get access to TWS and their API as a bonus.
Hi Despair,
Despair’s account is marked as blocked so he won’t be able to reply to your questions.
wow… ‘blocked’… hmmmm…
@Despair went down the IG API route in the end and ummm MatLab I think it was – have a search on these forums and you should see what his last words were unless the thread doesn’t exist anymore dunno…
Hi guys,
Wondering if we can connect PRT screener to an external API (such as Binance for cryptos)? Can’t find the info…
Thanks
